In 2001, my parents came back to Taiwan after some 30-odd years overseas.

Much had changed in Taipei, now a bustling megacity of subways, buses, and scooters. Instead, they settled in my mom's hometown of Hualien, a small city by the coast with a population of only 100 thousand. Hualien offered clean air, nearby beaches and mountain trails, good food, with amost all the conveniences of a big city.

In 2003 my parents got the rare chance to build their new home in Chisingtan Beach. Chisingtan is quintessential Hualien -- a small fishing village of starry evenings, splendid sunrises, and a fantastic view of the Pacific Ocean, yet only 15 minutes from Hualien City and its nightmarkets, and 30 minutes from Taroko National Park.

A year later we opened our doors hoping to share this seaside experience to anyone looking to get away from city life, or simply to those wishing to enjoy some of the best scenery Taiwan has to offer.

At Bayview B&B we have five guest rooms, furnished very minimally to give sore eyes a break. In exchange, every room has a fantastic direct view of the sea that simply commands your attention. One can sit in the balcony, marvel at the sunrise or gaze at the stars for hours.

Come join us at Bayview B&B and experience Chisingtan for yourself!
